2023-2024 Board of Directors

Each member on our Board of Directors is elected for a 3-year term on a rotating basis. Board Members are elected by the membership body during the Chelan Spring Conference every March. Nominations by peers or by self-submission are done through the PPSIG Executive Director.

  • Megan Douglas

    Conference Chair

    Megan earned her B.S. in Zoology from Miami University and her D.P.T. from the University of St. Augustine, where she also earned her manual therapy certification. She has been a board-certified Orthopedic specialist since 2006. She has been an adjunct professor at two different physical therapy programs in the greater Cincinnati/Dayton area. She moved back out to Washington state in 2009 and purchased Northwest Physical Therapy in 2011. A fourth office in Bellingham was added in 2018 when she purchased Healthy Focus PT. Over 10 years the company increased in value four-fold. She partnered with RET in 2021. Megan is now the Regional Director for the four NWPT clinics and she and her husband own the four commercial properties that house the NWPT clinics.

  • Amy Sanderson

    Treasurer

    Amy has been a physical therapist since 1993 after graduating from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Prior to this, she had received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Montana State University in 1990 and moved to the Spokane area soon after to attend EWU's Physical Therapy program. She has worked in Cheney, Washington since 1994 and opened the Apex Physical Therapy’s Cheney office in 1998.

  • Brian Cronin, MPT

    Chair

    Brian earned his BA from the University of Washington and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University. Brian specializes in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, and sports training. Brian started U-District Physical Therapy and Sports Performance in Spokane in 2004. Brian has been an adjunct professor teaching in EWU's Physical Therapy Department since 2007. He was elected board member for the Private Practice SIG in 2016 he also proudly serves on the U-District Foundation Board. Brian is Certified as an Emergency Medical Responder and in Applied Functional Science by the Gray Institute.

  • Jeremy Cornwell

    Vice Chair / Webmaster

    Jeremy entered into a partnership with IRG in 2014 which has successfully expanded to 3 clinics. Jeremy is involved in many community activities and local advisory boards as well one of the founding members of the Advisory Board for the Washington State University Kinesiology program. He has found that success in business is a balance between clinical excellence, leadership within our profession and community involvement. When not treating patients Jeremy is home on Whidbey Island, with his wife Brooke and their two children.

  • Elizabeth Rogers

    Secretary

    Elizabeth originally developed her passion for movement and keen ability to analyze movement through 18 years of classical ballet training. This passion for movement, the desire to work closely with people and an interest in medicine led her to a career in Physical Therapy. While completing her graduate studies in Physical Therapy, she simultaneously completed her Pilates instructor training, because she had a vision for the seamless integration of Pilates into Physical Therapy treatments. She also recognized that Pilates is a fun and effective method for optimizing movement across the lifespan. Elizabeth takes the time to listen to each client’s story in order to fully understand his/her needs and goals. Hearing the client’s story is essential to developing an effective treatment plan. Her treatment approach is a blend of manual therapy techniques, movement re-education and highly effective exercise techniques, including Pilates conditioning. She empowers all of her clients to take control of their wellness and longevity. Just like her clients, Elizabeth is doing her best to stay fit and healthy so that she can enjoy this life!     Federal Legal Advisor

    Gwen Simons, Esq, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT founded Simons & Associates Law in 2007 as a law firm that caters to the needs of health care providers in private practice. As a physical therapist and former private practitioner herself, she understands that small practices need cost-effective legal and compliance solutions and has designed her services to meet those needs. That’s why since 2007, she has become trusted legal counsel for 40+ physical therapy practices in Maine and 600+ entrepreneurial practitioners nationwide who have started telehealth, consulting and cash practices. Gwen also currently serves as the Executive Director for the NorthEast Private Practice Network, working on legislation and regulations that promote appropriate reimbursement, fair contracts with payers and a level playing field for private practitioners to compete. Before attending law school at the University of Maine School of Law, Gwen started 3 private practices in the Louisville, KY area, provided contract services to a rural Kentucky hospital and provided work injury management and job analysis consultation services to large industries. She has been a tireless advocate for physical therapists since graduating from PT school at the University of Kentucky in 1986 serving as the President of the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association and the Maine Chapter, APTA. She currently serves on task forces for the Private Practice Section (PPS), the Occupational Health Special Interest Group of the Academy of Orthopaedics and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). As an expert physical therapist, she still performs functional capacity evaluations for personal injury, disability and workers’ compensation cases.
