Licensed physical therapists are skilled medical professional who improve the quality of life for thousands of Washington state residents. Read here and look below for more information about physical therapy.

Access to Physical therapy:

Referrals – not required by Washington state: Did you know that Washington state law allows you to receive physical therapy without a referral from a physician? However, many insurance companies require a referral from a physician for treatment. (Check your individual plan to find out for sure.)

Self-referral to a physical therapist doesn’t mean your doctor is not involved. Therapists will keep your doctor informed as to your condition, and refer you for further medical evaluation whenever appropriate.

Ask your doctor for a referral: Many patients recognize that physical therapy would be helpful in evaluating and treating their particular problem. Ask your doctor for a referral to physical therapy. .

You have a choice: You may request your physician refer you to the physical therapist of your choosing. Just as you may take your medication prescription to any pharmacy you choose, you may also receive treatment from the physical therapist of your choice

Access our membership roster to find a physical therapist in your area.

Personal Attention:

Physical therapists in private practice regularly hear comments from their patients about the thoroughness of their evaluations, and the amount of time the therapist spent with them. You get personalized, one-on-one care from a physical therapist!

Get to the root of the problem:

Physical therapists in private practice don’t just treat “what hurts”, they also educate you about your problem, what you can do to control your symptoms, and what you can do to prevent recurrence of the same problem! Physical therapists analyze your movement patterns, biomechanics, physical activities, and posture to best treat the underlying causes of the problem you are being seen for.

Feel empowered to take care of your health! Contact a physical therapist to find a Washington State Private Practice SIG member.
