Letter to PPSIG from Pat Muchmore 5/7/09
As I was sitting in the meeting, I realized I hadn’t made a few notes in order to give my portion of the Legislative Comm. and Licensing Board reports. I was in the process of doing that when I heard Debbie Peterson mention the name of Mary McMillan. I thought she was going to ask the members to support a candidate for the Mary Mc-Millan Award give by APTA at their meeting in June, so I proceeded to complete mynotes. Then I heard by name called out and leaned over and asked what that was for and was told I was to go up front where Debbie was. That’s when I learned that you had named a Distinguished Service Award after me and I was the first recipient. I was so overwhelmed and continue to be today. It all seemed so surreal and I honestly was speechless and it continues to bring tears to my eyes when I think of it today. It was a blessing that the meeting moved forward, because I could never begin to tell you how very much that means to me. I have loved being a physical therapist ever since I received my degree some 48 years ago. I can honestly say, and have told staff and others, I never woke up and said, “Oh no, I have to go to work today”. I am so proud to be a member of PPSIG, PTWA and APTA but my heart has always been with all of you…..the private practioners. To say thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough; however I truly mean it and wish all of you the very best of everything. Sincerely, Patricia R.
